Minecraft village finder
Find village candidates around your base, then compare the surrounding land and route before choosing a place to settle.
Set up the search
Enter your numeric seed for a default Java 1.21.1 world. This form starts with Village in the Overworld. Set Center X and Center Z to the area you want to search, then choose Find on map. The finder looks within 2,048 blocks of that center and orders predicted locations by horizontal distance.
Use View to center on a result and Copy XZ to keep its horizontal coordinates. The marker identifies a predicted starting chunk. It does not identify an entrance, promise a complete structure or supply its internal layout.
Choose a village for the job you need
A nearby village can be a destination, a landmark or part of a larger town plan. Minecraft’s official structure overview describes villages as Overworld communities with houses and villagers. The map marker is more limited: it identifies a predicted location, not a building inventory, available trades or the current population of your saved world.
For a base, compare connected land and access around two candidates instead of choosing only the shortest result. A shorter straight-line distance can still mean a harder journey. The base planning guide explains how to compare the same scale and settings.
A useful search from an existing base
If your base is X 800, Z −400, enter those as the search center. That is an example input, not a promise of a village at that location. The first result is nearest to that base within the searched radius, not necessarily nearest to world spawn.
Open the candidate with View, inspect the surrounding terrain and save it as a possible destination. Then inspect another result. Keep the base view so you can compare directions without confusing a newly centered popup distance with the original journey.

Why a village marker does not answer every question
The finder does not tell you which houses survived in an existing world, whether villagers are still present, what a player has built or which trades are available. Those are questions for the actual world. A seed preview cannot reconstruct events after generation.
If no village appears in the radius, move the search center rather than concluding the seed has no villages. If a marker fails in-game, check the exact generation settings and chunk history. Bedrock structure locations are outside this page’s supported scope.
Check a result and keep the context
Confirm the seed, Java 1.21.1, dimension and the generation history of the target chunks. If the location matters to a long-term plan, compare it in a separate matching world before committing. A surface tree or block texture is an illustration, not a surveyed entrance.
Save a named view or copy a full map link with the seed and coordinates. For a discrepancy, include the map point and the position checked in-game using Help & troubleshooting. See the compatibility checklist when an older or modified world differs.
